Their first participation in 2016 happened pretty spontaneously. The heads of tournament had requested a potential participation some days before the tournament start in order to replace the short-term cancellation of Hannover 96 at that time. The team of Rödinghausen agreed and convinced the audience right away. At the end they came out 5th and missed the semi finals very closely. For years the club is working on solid youth work and try to prepare young players for their amateur team in Regional League West as soon as possible. As a matter of fact the current U23 team consists of 13 players who played U19 before as well. Two players of the U19 team are even playing in the amateur team in Westfalen League. Fabian Kunze is one of them. He could still play in the U19 team, however, already developed to a starter in the Regional League team. “The international feeling and competition can be a huge step in every players’ mental development” according to Time Daseking sports director of Rödinghausen.
