SV Werder Bremen

No 40th edition without SV Werder Bremen. The club participated in a large number of past tournaments and they travel with a high sympathy factor to Stemwede. This year will be their 16th time in Stemwede. If last years’ championship involvement along with a spontaneous cancellation would not have happened, it would have been their 18th year here in Stemwede. With 5 tournament wins they are also on top of the leader board. Yet on top of their league in 2016 is the U19 of SVW now dangerously close to the relegation places. This situation was reason enough for Mirko Votava to step down after 12 years as head coach of the U19 team. Marko Grote, former coach of the U17 team, has now taken over his position. Even though the curve of Bremen is not steady at all these days, the statistics show the great youth efforts. In the last 30 years more than 100 players have made it to the professional team of Bremen.
