Liverpool FC

They won the Volksbank-Cup 2015, paused in 2016 and now they are back in the starter field in 2017. As a matter of fact they belong to the top favorites. Not many clubs fascinate football fans as much as Liverpool does. The club at the “Anfield Road” has recently felt the influence of Jürgen Klopp who has initiated a lot of changes in their youth development. “The definition of an academy is to only keep and develop the top talents” says head of the “Kirkby Academy” Alex Inglethorpe and explains the step to dismiss a lot of youth players from the academy to now under 200 in total. This step is enormously important to further push and develop the players for the professional team. A player who has taken this step is U-20 national player Cameron Brannagan who was announced best player of the tournament in 2015 and was recruited to the professional team half a year later by Jürgen Klopp. At the beginning of this year the club achieved a major coup when they won the Reds legend Steven Gerrad as academy stuff. Alex Inglethorpe says that “He knows what you need to be successful. He played in the highest leagues and at the highest level of football. His views and understanding of the game are tremendously important for us.”
